Family Media Agreements

If you have ever had the chance to browse through sites promoting online safety, you'll often see the recommendation to have a family media agreement.  Generally, but not always, such agreements are physical documents that everyone signs.  More importantly, however, the media agreement helps parents establish:

  1. Guidelines and expectations for media use
  2. Appropriate behavior online
  3. A checklist to help discuss various topics

The third point, in particular is extremely important.  Because so many excellent family media agreements exist, we've listed a few below for you to choose from:

CommonSense Media Family Agreement
There are three different agreements based on the age of the child and whether or not they are in elementary, middle, or high school.

The Growing Wireless Family Rules Template

The Wireless Foundation's Contract for Responsible Cell Phone Use
